Flax Fiber-Reinforced Woofer Cone
A hallmark of the Expert Series is its flax fiber-reinforced woofer cones. Harvested in the Normandy region of France, flax is an organic material that offers an exceptional torsional strength to mass ratio. When blended into the composite fiberglass sandwich of the woofer cone, it provides an increase in flexural rigidity for solid bass response. The cone is attached to the basket with a catenary profile. This relatively tall profile ensures linear excursion while optimizing functional cone diameter for good efficiency.
Focal Expert P25FS Performance Specifications
The new P25FS features dual ferrite magnets for excellent efficiency and dynamics from its compact chassis. Based around a new stamped-steel basket with four split spokes, this driver requires a mounting depth of only 87.6mm (3.45 inches). A vent on the rear of the pole piece cools the compact 1.5-inch diameter voice coil. The P25FS is rated to handle 280 watts of power and features a single 4-ohm voice coil winding. In terms of cone excursion capabilities, the sub offers an 11mm Xmax specification.
Deep Bass from Compact Enclosures
After months of development and research, the speaker engineers at Focal were able to create a subwoofer that provides great low-frequency extension from compact enclosure volume requirements. The P25FS will work in a sealed enclosure as small as 0.45 cubic feet. These compact requirements allow us to create subwoofer enclosures that fit comfortably behind or under the seat of a pickup truck.
